Analysis of WildBees by James K. Baxter Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

Wild Bees This poem by James K. Baxter is a poetically recounted reminiscence which remains close to him. The verses describe the process in which the narrator and his friends went through to smoke out a bee hive in the southern hemisphere, most probably South Africa (as the event took place in January yet the poem commences by ‘often in summer’) in order to obtain bee honey. The basic structure of the poem relies upon 5 stanzas’ each composed of 6 lines. There is no obvious rhyming scheme all though it can be noted that within each stanza there are always two words at the end of a line, in no specific order, which rhyme. The poem is written from a first person singular point of view. The poem starts off in a calm mood suggesting tranquility during the times the narrator ‘often in summer’ ‘in a rented boat’. This is accompanied by light euphonic descriptions and imagery to enforce his currently described action, which is floating in a boat. This drifting idea is supported through out the stanza with a diction of words which either lifts of the tongue in pronunciatio......
