Extending the School Year There are a lot of mixed views when it comes to the topic of extending the school year. Some people say it is a waste of time because students won�t stay focused and engaged in learning through the summer months so it is useless. Others argue that if the school year were extended then maybe students would continue to be mentally stimulated and learn gradually instead of being taught material and losing that knowledge through the summer, thus, disregarding the �refreshment� period in September. Throughout this paper I will be touching on both the positive and negative arguments of, �Extending the School year.� First, we will start with the positive views in extending the school year. The traditional three-month vacation during the summer is wasteful and insufficient.
