One of the most famous and horrible occurrences in our world’s history is the Black Death. Not only did it take a stammering number of lives but it had a devastating impact on the society as well. What was so powerful about a sickness? Could it have been prevented? Where did it even come from? To analyze these questions and reach an answer, one must first try to figure what the Black Death really was, and decipher the difference between the societies it affected. To begin with, let’s discuss the Black Death itself. The Black Death also known as “The Plague” was more than a sickness but a disease. It was caused by a single bacterial organism known as Yersinia pestis. The Black Death was threatening in two specific ways. One stage of it was called the Septicaemic plague, which affected the lymph glands and the blood glands. The other threatening stage was called the pneumonic plague which hurt the lungs only. But how could someone catch this kind of disease? There were a few assumptions made by people of the fourteenth century including toxic fumes from volcanoes, astrol......
