Julian Of Norwich Julian of Norwich�s Revelations of Divine Love demonstrates the suffering one must go through to arrive at God�s love. Although her book appears to be a work of consolation, she concludes that one must go through a process of suffering to obtain God�s love. Julian enlightens the reader that our suffering will not go unrewarded, � for I saw quite certainly that just as our contrariness brings us pain, shame and sorrow here on earth, so, on the contrary, grace brings us comfort, honour and bliss in heaven� (111). This suffering Julian alludes to has to due with the perfection of God and the imperfection of humankind. This creates a paradox showing us that we can never truly be perfect. Her second revelation is suffering is good because God suffers with us. God is patient and he longs for us to come back to him. Julian�s last revelation is about how we have to search for the deeper meaning of words because God does not reveal all of his secrets to us. If he did, we would never find our inner souls.
