Troy- Homer�s �The Iliad� The film Troy shows the realism and the significance of Homer�s The Iliad by showing the battle between the Greeks versus the people of Troy. Certainly there is tragedy in Troy when there is a downfall of the �hero� which was due to hubris and revenge. Hubris plays an enormous part in the film for that the main character Achilles is by nature arrogant and spiteful. The words that characters use in Troy are put to effective use and can be examined closely to interpret meaning the film. Troy is the film that shows viewers the meaning of Homer�s �The Iliad.� Achilles is the main character in the film that although he proves to be a great warrior he is by nature, rude and arrogant and thinks of himself higher than others. He is the one that demonstrates the most amount of hubris because his character is naturally arrogant and rebellious. An example of this would be when he is the only soldier left standing in Troy when it has been invaded and he pompously kicks of the head of a Greek god of Apollo off.
