Abstract Blockbuster�s roots originate from Dallas, Texas where it first opened in October of 1985. Blockbuster Video, as it was called back then, was started by a 29 year old by the name of David P. Cook who headed the business for several years and took it public before handing control of it to CEO Joe Mitchell who grew it into a multi-billion dollar company. This paper will focus on the physical assets, knowledge, and the technological based influences Blockbuster has experienced throughout the years, and how changes to the company�s global matrix reflects those decisions today. Physical Assets During the 1990�s and early 2000�s Blockbuster invested heavily in store roll out programs. This expanded Blockbusters domination throughout the US, and engaged in hard lined procurements of competitors such as video rental stores and gaming boutiques eventually leading it to be the largest movie/game rental company in world.
