INTENTIONAL COMMUNITIES �Intentional Communities� are defined as communities created with the intention that everyone has common ideas or beliefs. These communities can be called cohousing, ecovillages, communes and student co-ops. These communities are created with different purposes and beliefs, ranging from sharing resources, living ecologically or having the same values. Some are very religious, while others are solely secular. It was hard to choose just two to report on. Many of the communities are just forming while others no longer exist. The size of the communities range from as little as four people to global villages with communities found internationally. The postindustrial societies today have switched their focus from production and manufacturing on to the service industry. The biggest factors are information and the latest technology. So today�s society has grown away from �Gemeinschaft� communities, where everybody was intimate.
