Pearl Harbor Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

The attack on Pearl Harbor had the same motivation behind it as every other attack or war declaration had behind it in both of the World Wars. It was basically greed. Japan wanted to fulfill its longtime dream of having a vast colonial empire that stretched from Manchuria and China south to Thailand and Indonesia. Japan had an offensive mindset. They just wanted to conquer all of the land they could pretty much. It seems Japan wanted to do this to improve its economical, political, and social status. However, there was only one thing that stood between Japan and its powerful aspirations; the United States (Danzer et. al., 563-65) As stated in the previous paragraph, the cause for the attack on Pearl Harbor was an internal issue in Japan. They had hopes of creating a vast colonial empire, but when the U.S. stood in their way, it became an external issue. By creating this vast colonial empire, Japan could improve its economy and political situation, but it would definitely improve their social status and label them as a powerful empire.
