In this essay I will talk about the countries that were involved in the Great War and the events that occurred in Russia and led to their withdrawal from the War.
One reason why the war broke out was because nobody tried that hard to avoid it. In 1879 Kaiser Wilhelm II had an alliance with the king Austria-Hungary Franz Joseph I; later on they made another alliance with Italy in 1882. When King George V, King Nicholas II and the prime minister of France Georges Clemenceau had felt threatened by Germany, especially from its rapidly developing military and economy. They also made an alliance with each other
Frances main reason for having an alliance with the other great powers was because of Germany’s army, and the desire to have revenge on the Germans. This was because the Germans had seized two French states, Alsace and Lorraine in 1871. Britain’s reason for joining the alliance system was because of the growth of Germany’s navy.
