The right to die with dignity and grace is one of a human�s basic rights. Physician assisted suicide (PAS) and Euthanasia are highly argued issues in America and the world today. PAS is the ending of a person�s life painlessly for mercy. We are hearing more horror stories about elderly killing their spouses to alleviate the pain and give their significant other a more tolerable death. Physicians however take an oath to sustain life not take and this goes against all their ethical codes. PAS is neither morally nor ethically accepted, it should be an individual choice not a communities choice to decide what is best for them. Death should be peaceful without pain and unnecessary suffering. Euthanasia or Physician Assisted Suicide (PAS) is not given to just any patient that requests it as some protesters would have you think. Three countries and one American state allow PAS; there are guidelines that are followed, for example in Oregon the Doctor prescribing PAS cannot be present when the lethal dose of usually Barbiturates is taken by the patient.
