Mnemonic Method in Adults for Learning a Foreign Language Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report
Student of foreign languages often rely on various strategies to memorize vocabulary words. They would often find visual imagery to be effective in enhancing memory. Investigations have indicated that it may be possible to solve a given task by alternative modes or strategies. Memories are stored by the mind in two different coding systems, verbal and visual. Even when the two may sometimes overlap, there is always more emphasis in one or the other by a given item. Abstract words are better coded verbally while concrete are better storage visually.
In order to remember things some students use the Mnemonic method to help them understand and memorize the words better. Like other mnemonic, the keyword method works by using strong, familiar associations to memorize weak, unfamiliar association.
