Cultural Background Culture is something we all have, but what is culture? As described in the Encyclopedia Britannica culture is the set of shared attitudes, values, goals, and practices that characterizes an institution or organization. I�m proud of my culture. I am full blooded Irish and very proud of that fact. However, being raised in both countries, I see the life in two different environments. I can say life in the United States if very different than Ireland. My culture is something different than the American culture. The Irish love traditions. We love them so much that our country is full of them. We celebrate everything from the birth of a newborn to eating colcannon on Halloween and we always wear something green on St. Patrick�s Day. I�ve noticed that is not the norm here in the states. Americans seem to send a card for everything and really don�t celebrate. The American celebrations usually conscience of a dinner or lunch on that one special day. The pub seems to be the heart of the Irish cultural.
