Hurricane Katrina Disaster Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

On august 23rd, during the 2005 Atlantic hurricane season, one of the deadliest hurricanes in the history of the United States of America hit the north-central coast, mainly causing the most loss of lives in New Orleans. There have been many theories and essays written by anthropologists and sociologists about this “natural disaster” that cause controversy on the cause and effects of this devastating event. The article that I chose to analyze is “There’s No Such Thing as a Natural Disaster” by Neil Smith. I chose this article because he has very logical interpretations of Hurricane Katrina and very valid arguments that I can concur with. I found this article to be exceptionally well written because it brought up multiple issues that stimulated intelligent explanations for this tragedy. As human beings on this planet, we have the ability to control and prevent many issues that our environment faces.
