Being an Effective Team Leader Being an effective team lead requires several skills in order to succeed and to have a team that succeeds; communication, motivation, and determination. These are all based on a wide spectrum of skills, but the team leader must know how to keep the team talking, motivated, and determined to reach the final product. In a team environment the old quote �a chain is only as strong as its weakest link� applies. Because if the team leader fails the entire team fails and if someone on the team does not do his or her part they can bring the entire team down and it still can fail, but ultimately the responsibility falls on the leader to hold it altogether because the team leader is the one that has to take the responsibility if the project has failed.
