1. Introduction
About general differences between men and women or boys and girls is probably everyone aware of, since they learned about these characteristics from their parents when they were a child. That there are more details than only the sex which differentiates between men and women seems to be known by most of the grown ups. If not, they should know at the latest, after reading a book called “Warum Männer nicht zuhören und Frauen schlecht einparken”, because this book came out a few years ago and proved that all the prejudices, which existed before, seem to be true.
This book, of course, is a novel and discusses, as the title shows, the most common men and women - prejudices and their connected differences. But when it comes to language and communication, male and female differ a lot as well, as this paper is going to show.
First I will start with the language development of boys and girls, than I will talk about general language differences from men and women and afterwards I will get focused on the use of politeness.
