"My policy is to govern men the way the majority wishes." (Henderson, 48) A statement made by Napoleon Bonaparte, a man whose definition of majority was slightly different than the rest of France. The French Revolution was a call for change, specifically where liberty and equality were concerned. However, though France did make significant advances in both areas, in the revolutions final stage it was all reversed. Napoleon removed France�s new constitution replacing it with political reforms France had seen prior to the revolution. Equality was also targeted. Napoleon, without hesitation, stripped married women and workers of their rights which had been gained only months prior. As well, he re-instated his own version of nobility, going against its prior abolishment. The removal of censorship in France was happiness short lived, as Napoleon placed laws of censorship on newspapers and plays. The reversal of both liberty and equality advances in the French Revolution made the revolution, on a whole, unsuccessful. Napoleon successfull......
