Global Warming Fact or Fiction The earth has been going through a warming trend for the last 20,000 years. The warming has accelerated in the last 100 years. The Great Ice age is ending. The facts will show that both, global warming and the end of the ice age are true. Is global warming fact or fiction? Are inhabitants of this earth causing global warming? On the other hand, is it coming to the end of the Ice Age? There are many that might say people are killing the earth�s atmosphere. The National Academy of Sciences (NAS) and the United Nations have concluded that a strong relationship exists between human activity and observed temperature increases. The planet is warming because of us and the greenhouse gases we produce. (Clark, 2006). The average temperature of the earth has gone up over the past 120 years. A lot of this increase was before 1940. Where as most of the CO2 increase (over 80%) in the atmosphere happened after 1940. Therefore, greenhouse gases came after the major temperature increase.
