Before its several structural changes, Ryanair outsourced part of its value chain (logistics)
They created a holding company that actually bought back the Ryan family business. The family get a premium of IR£56.4million. In that acquisition, it seems that the assets (like plants or equipments) have been sold separately to a third party. The holding keeping only shares of the company.

• The Ryan family 61% stake for IR£3.1million,
• O’Leary purchased 17.9% of the company for IR£0.9million
• Bonderman (representing another group) invested IR£1million in equity and IR£24million loan to Ryanair through a vehicle company – IRISH AIR – for a stake of 19.9% in Ryanair
In the 1997 flotation, the holding company used the leverage process to raise IR£58million. 35% of the shares have bee used to repay loans and purchase aircraft.
