This analysis and evaluation will seek to describe four lessons taught by myself to a middle ability Year 8 class during my first block placement at Langleywood School. The unit that I have chosen to describe, analyse and evaluate, will outline the two teaching strategies; use of images and shared reading and writing, employed by myself in order to teach the class during the first four lessons. The unit of work that I taught (the differences between ghost and horror stories and creating an effective setting) were the first lessons in which I sought to introduce the scheme of work - creative writing - based upon the ghost and horror genres. The scheme of work stretched over half a term (six weeks), and over approximately twenty-five lessons. Over the term, the pupils were to learn and acquire the skills in order to write a short ghost or horror story.
