For those of you who don’t know by now ABCD is much more than just a nursery song, it stands for American Born Confused Desi, an acronym given to those second generation Indian kids growing up in America whose parents were raised in the motherland. ABCD’s excel in the American educational system and have been blessed by Hollywood’s recent attraction to everything Indian. These days every aspect of the Indian culture, from yoga to Indian food is considered to be mainstream. With natural tans, the innate ability to excel in studies and a greater understanding of the world then many children have, the question remains: why are they so confused?
Maybe they are confused about their nationality, or what language should be their mother tongue, or why their house smells so much ......
