The government of the United States of America is based on the American constitution. The US have a presidential democracy. Therefore the president is the most important man within the nation and has a lot of power. To make the form of the government even fairer the government is based on a system of checks an balances. It works like that: The government is split up in three branches: The Executive, the Judicial and the Legislative branch. None of these branches can work without the other ones. An example: The Judical branch which is represented by the Supreme Court can declare presidential acts(Executive) and laws passed by the Congress(Legislative) unconstitutional. The Supreme Court�s Judges have to be appointed by the president and approved by the Senate(Legislative). The President appoints Judges and can veto laws passed by the Congress. The Congress can overrule the president with a two-thirds majority and must approve the Judges. The Supreme Court can declare presidential acts and laws passed by the Congress unconstitutional.
