Macbeth's Murders Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

Murder, Murder, Murder The three murders which occur in William Shakespeare’s ‘Macbeth’ linked and incorporated the various themes of the play - blood, the overthrow of the natural order, sleep, good and evil. Prophesized by the Weird Sisters to become king of Scotland but not have descendants to his throne, Macbeth killed Duncan for the throne, attempted to kill both Banqou and his son, Fleance to cut off their family line, and killed Macduff’s family for fear of rising rebellion against him. Throughout the course of the play and the multiple murders, Macbeth’s character and attitude appeared to evolve yet deteriorate, from a brave general and loyal servant of the king to a ruthless and vindictive tyrant. Macbeth’s thoughts and attitudes wavered and changed as he contemplated each deed. After Duncan announced that his son Malcolm is to be his heir, Macbeth immediately realised that this is an obstacle to his ambitions and started to contemplate ways to fulfill the prophecy, employing a strange metaphor, ‘My thought, whose murder is yet but fantastical.’ Macbeth is not easily lur......
