Building Construction Types for for people in the fire service field Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report
In the world of construction there are many ways to erect and build a building. The most common is wood in my eyes. I chose to do my report on wood construction. There are six types of wood construction. I will touch base briefly on those six to do with the fire service mainly. The six types of wood frame construction are log cabin, post and frame, balloon frame, platform frame, plank and beam and lightweight truss construction.
First off, I would like to talk about log cabin construction. We all know what these types look like because when you were kids you had Lincoln logs. This is the same thing. Log cabin construction derived from European countries, on the east side of the U.S. Scandinavians brought the log cabin style and on the west side of the U.S. the Russians did. The log cabin was the first homes to be pre fabricated, these were built and sold from Moscow, Russia. The era that these derived from was the 1700’s so this type of construction has been around a long time.
