Summary/ Analysis
In “This Is the End of the World’ The Black Death” by historian Barbara Tuchman, provides readers with detailed descriptions of the plague that eradicated one third of the population in Europe. Tuchman depicts the symptoms of the victims in a vivid oriented manner (Tuchman 759-760). She also presents the different aspects in which the poor and rich were affected by the disease (765-766). “Ignorance of the cause” Tuchman (767) of the bubonic plague instill a sense of hopelessness and despair to its’ suffers. (765). Tuchman writes how the immense numbers of deaths change the everyday life of the citizens in Europe (763-766).The essay gives one the feeling that the plague with its widespread destruction and chaos; had no future for its afflicted society.
