Incentive Plans Incentive plans have increased in the last few years. There are two main reasons for incentive plans growth, performance management and the inability to provide yearly raises to outstanding contributors. The US Postal (USPS) has adopted pay for performance initiatives which provide the management ranks yearly pay increases. The purpose of this paper is to examine the incentive plans of the USPS as they relate to organizational objectives. Moreover, to evaluate how the incentive plans do, or do not, help the organization to achieve its goal and objectives. Examine the Incentive Plans of the US Postal Service During the heavy growth years of the USPS in the 1990s, mail volume was at a all time high. Automated processes, introduced to ensure timely mail delivery using less labor.
