Evolution Growing up in each time period in the world there are different things done in different cultures which are considered very barbaric or dignified by our time and mind set. Throughout stories that are told from the past many are told to learn a lesson that the story is teaching and an overall theme that the author is teaching and the direct lesson that you receive from the book. In the �Lottery� by Shirley Jackson, she speaks of many things and brings out many thoughts in your mind while giving detail but letting you think what you want to think with your past and tradition and relate yourself to the story. In knowing that Jackson shows how people in this time and period are trying to change or not change, but tradition comes before everything no matter who agrees and who doesn�t.
