How Modernism is reflected in T. S. Eliots works Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report
T.S. Elliot (1888-1965) was one of the greatest poets of the Modernist period. His poems had great resemblance to the characteristics of that period and some of his more known lines will be hard to forget as they were part of important themes that Elliot was trying to present. Characteristics of the Modernist period such as Classical References, Questioning of oneself, as well as Fragmentation are only a few of the many characteristics that Elliot uses within his poems. Not only does Elliot use them but he uses them effectively to create visual images which relate to his messages.
Classical References are frequent throughout Elliot’s poems as he has many references to Dante as well as Guy Fawkes. Classical References used by Elliot are often relevant to what the poem is trying to express to the reader as Elliot’s style of poetry means that every line of the poem has some relevance to the message he is trying to create.
