Imru' Al-Qays Arab poet, author of the most famous of seven poems long prized as outstanding examples of the Arabian Peninsula�s poetic tradition before the rise of Islam in the 7th century. Who is Imru' Al- Qays? Imru Al Qays is Hundj Bin Hujr Bin Harith Al- Kindi. One of the most famous pre-islamic poets. His father Hujr Bin Harith was the king of Kindah. Kindah was one of the old pre-islamic Arabic kingdoms. His mother was Fatmah bint Rabi�ah the sister of Kulib and Al-Muhalhl, two of the well known, Arabic tribe leaders. Imru' Al Qays was a nickname that was given to him which means "stern man". He was born around 500 A.D, as the son of the king Imru' al Qays lived a life of luxury, he was the youngest of his siblings. Like most princeses he was taught many practices that were a necessity at that time, such as horseback riding, and swordsmanship.
