Affirmative Action There are several everyday actions, which come to the majority of us as something we don�t even give thought to � it�s just the way it is. Take, for example, breathing: we just do it, natural to us as a means for living, it�s unquestionable. This is my thinking when it comes to affirmative action. A term coined by JFK in 1961 was first �enforced� by President Johnson as a way to gain results in the struggle for equality. To me, �AA� isn�t even questionable, it�s been put in place to reverse the intolerable discrimination against African Americans, as well as the many minorities that have made their home in the United States of America. I believe affirmative action provides fair amendment for unequal situations created by historic racist behaviors, it also allows for opportunities that benefit all of society to rise above previous social standing, contributing gainfully rather than being lost in an inner-city statistic and finally, if affirmative action is permitted to run its imperative course, it will eventually become obsolete of its own accord.
