Divine Wind Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

The Divine Wind describes an Australia that is tarnished by racism, hatred and distrust, and yet the novel ends on an optimistic not. Do you agree? Based in World War Two the Divine Wind portrays a worn and exhausted Australia, where the white Australian society deprives the ability to correspond the foreigners and native Aboriginals but yet there are many aspects in the novel where it is clearly sanguine. Some considerable examples from the Divine Wind which imply faith, hope and trust are, when Alice is reported that she has been captured by the Japanese, everyone assumes the worst but she returns back to Broome alive but in a worn condition. Also when Hart saves Jamie from drowning. The novel doesn’t always have an optimistic tone it is often distorted by racial conflict, sorrow and distrust. The novel may be upsetting but it also contains so much positive energy and that’s why I truly agree with the topic statement. The Aboriginals are defended on numerous occasions throughout the novel by Alice and Michael. A perfect example is when Major Morrissey is condemning the trustw......
