Global warming is not going to happen, it is happening. Ice is melting, temperatures are rising and people don�t even realize. If this continues, there will be serious consequences. To save the planet, we need to step up and take control of our actions to the environment if we want to survive. Coal, oil, and deforestation have caused the concentrations of heat-trapping �greenhouse� to build up in the atmosphere. When too much carbon dioxide is in the atmosphere it prevents heat from escaping to space. When that happens the planet becomes warmer, and warmer weather can cause severe heat, floods, hurricanes, or worse (Learn More). Since 1970, the number of 4 and 5 hurricanes has jumped sharply (Learn More). An example of one of these hurricanes is hurricane Katrina. Katrina was the most powerful hurricane ever recorded in the United States. It devastated whole towns, forcing thousands of people from their homes.
