Nature Vs. Nurture Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

Since the beginning of time, man has been plagued by questions such as “what is the meaning of life” and “which came first, the chicken or the egg”. Recently a new and quite controversial question has emerged; whether nature or nurture has more of an impact on the development of ones sexual orientation. Both theories represent two totally different perspectives on the topic and have valid arguments, but which one is right? In this paper I will take a close look at both perspectives, and determine if any, is more dominant over the other. For several decades many people believed that nurture had a more profound impact on the sexuality of humans than did nature. Famous psychologist Sigmund Freud was one of the first to put forth the notion that sexual orientation was derived from the way that one was nurtured. Freud developed a theory in which he stated that from birth till the age of four, every child is bisexual.
