In my essay I will focus on the representation of Nature in Robert Frost’s and E. E. Cummings’s poetry. I will compare two poems of Frost with two poems of Cummings in order to stress the similarities and the differences of these two poets. In addition, I will examine in detail how each of them uses Nature and how they represent it in their poems. Besides this, I will also have as a focal point the fact that these two poets use different poetic techniques in order to represent Nature. The poems that I have chosen to use are Frost’s “Nothing Gold can Stay” and “Fire and Ice” and Cummings’s “O sweet spontaneous” and “I thank you god for this amazing”.
Primarily, these two poems are great exemplars for Frost’s and Cumming’s poetry. I have chosen these four specific poems because I think that they are very interesting and representative poems for each poet. Each one of the poems depicts and represents nature in a different way.
