The renowned historian David Kennedy claims that the, ��debate about the New Deal's historical significance, its ideological identity, and its political, social, and economic consequences has ground on for more than half a century.�� After much debate, however, it is clear that The New Deal did not radically alter American business, but conserved and protected it, because Franklin D. Roosevelt created the program in order to provide relief, reform, and recovery, not grounds for radical change. In fact, the ��alphabet agencies�� that compose the New Deal, themselves, prove that Roosevelt��s only intention was to dig America out of the hole that the Great Depression put it in. In 1933, the American banks that were once on the verge of ruin were reinvigorated, not altered, due to several successful acts.
