Chapter 1
-The narrator of this story seems to be some sort of hillbilly or something; not very well brought up. He talks in a rude or poorly-educated manner.
-The narrator says his parents are nice people, but wouldn’t want him blabbing about them. This gives us a bit of information about the type of people Holden’s parents are.
-His brother is a writer. Seems his brother was brought up differently then he.
-The narrator goes to Pencey and he hates the school.
-fencing manager (outcast look)
-searches for closure from his history teacher; Mr. Spencer.
-“and all” (vocabulary that the narrator uses quite frequently)
-uses a lot of comparisons
Chapter2
-“as hell”
- Holden (the narrator of the story) is 17 years old and already has gray hair. Is this a symbol of a stressful childhood? Is Holden so tired and stressed that he already has gray hair?
-adolescent tone and grammar.
-Holden can multi-task well. He can think of home and talk rubbish to Spencer at the same time. Is this indicating that he loves home a lot and consta......
