Walt Whitman Walt Whitman was considered �Our Nations Poet�. For some it is clear to see why, but for others understanding might be a challenge. Whitman grew up in a busy world. The time of industrialism, and a time of changing for America. This was one of the major influences on Whitman�s writings; but to really bet to know Whitman you have to understand the deeper meaning behind his poems. Walt Whitman wrote about what he knew. Everything and Anything around him was displayed throughout his work. Walt Whitman celebrated the human spirit and the human body in his poems.
