Enterprise Resource Planning Enterprise Resource Planning, ERP, is yet another of those three-letter acronyms. To describe an ERP system in a simple way one could say that ERP is an information system that manages all resources available in a company. It is a common term for a co-operating software that manages and co-ordinates much of a company�s resources, assets and activities. Orders, storage, purchasing, assets, vendor contacts, financials, and human resources are usually included in an ERP system. We could illustrate the use of an ERP system by a simple example. When a store in Australia sells a product, data is sent simultaneously to the finance department in London and to the manufacturing department in Stockholm.
