The world of illegal drugs is often closely linked with violence and abuse. What if I told you that by making one of these drugs legal we could make our country a safer and better place? I know it might seem a little ridiculous at first but once you read my argument you will be able to understand where I am coming from. I believe that by legalizing marijuana we will be able to generate money from taxes, reduce drug-related offences, help medical patients, free up the courts, and add to the freedom that this country is known for. I don�t want you to think that I advocate legalizing all illegal drugs because I don�t. I have seen first hand how friends I grew up with have ruined their lives through drug abuse. I am also not advocating unrestrained use of the drug, anything used in excess can be dangerous. We see this in our society with things like alcohol and prescription medication. I believe we should treat marijuana the same way we treat cigarettes. It is legal, regulated by the government, and only sold to people over the age of eighteen.
