In the case of Othello, it is not completely principled that Iago lay isolated in his faults. It is not singularly Iago’s intemperance and lust for destruction that provokes tragedy, moreover the combined complex incentives and emotions displayed by several characters. These are demonstrated in numerous instances such as Barbantio’s close-minded exclusiveness in matters concerned with his daughter, Roderigo’s inability to conduct his own thoughts and Emilia’s ignorance of her husband’s true motives. Even as the play’s protagonist, Othello displays his own personal weaknesses. Indeed Iago is the menacing ventriloquist, but without those blind puppets susceptible to mendacity, the Othello tragedy would not be a convoluted intricate web of betrayl and deceit.
As Barbantio is introduced to the audience, his character is depicted as a senile man, defensive of his daughter and kin. This fact can be confirmed by Barbantio’s hostile opening lines when he is reacting to the disturbances of Roderigo ......
