Robert H. Bishop, the author of the book �Mechatronics: An Introduction�, is the Professor in Engineering, distinguished teaching Professor in the college of Engineering and in the Centre for Space Research at The University of Texas at Austin, Texas, USA. He has a Ph.D. in electrical and computer engineering from Rice University in 1990. He started to work in the faculty of The University of Texas at Austin that same year. Dr. Bishop is chairman of the Aerospace Engineering and Engineering Mechanics Department. He is associated with the Center for Space Research. In 2002, he was named a University Distinguished Teaching Professor. Dr. Bishop enquires guidance, navigation and control of aerospace vehicles. He is an expert in the area of planetary exploration with significance on spacecraft guidance, navigation and control. Bishop is actually working with NASA Johnson Space Center and the Jet Propulsion Laboratory on techniques for accomplishing accuracy landing on Mars.
