Macbeth We know very little about William Shakespeare. (Full name ; Gulielmus filius Johannes Shakespeare) What we know we have gained from his written works or the church records. We know from church records that he was born on or about April 23, 1564 to John and Mary Shakespeare. St George's Day, has been Shakespeare's accepted birthday, and a house on Henley Street in Stratford, owned by William's father, is accepted as Shakespeare's birth place. However, the reality is that no one really knows when the great dramatist was born. He died on April 23, 1616 and was buried at Holy Trinity Church, Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire. Shakespeare wrote 36 plays, 154 sonnet, and 2 narrative poems. �Macbeth� is one of Shakespeare�s great tragedies, based on Holinshed�s Chronicles of England, Scotland, and Ireland. It was written around 1605 but was not published in the first Folio until 1623. �Macbeth� is one of the most well known plays by Shakespeare.
