With the understanding of Bowlby¡¯s attachment theory, we are able to grasp the idea of how important the attachment theory is in relation between the mother and child. John Bowlby conducted a great amount of research on the attachment theory. He believed that infants stay close to their mothers in order to avoid danger. Therefore, those with close maternal attachments were more likely to survive. He believed that the attachment behaviours, as stated earlier, were a result of this biological need for security.
