Attachment theory is one of the most studied aspects of psychology. With the understanding of Bowlby¡¯s attachment theory, we are able to grasp the idea of how important the attachment theory is in relation between the mother and child. In this essay, we will emphasize on what Bowlby¡¯s attachment theory is about and at the same time, discussion of the limitations and importance of the findings subsequent to Bowlby¡¯s theory will be conducted. Lastly, we will also discuss how we inform our understanding of the relationship between mother and child. John Bowlby conducted a great amount of research on the attachment theory. He believed that infants stay close to their mothers in order to avoid danger. Therefore, those with close maternal attachments were more likely to survive. He believed that the attachment behaviours, as stated earlier, were a result of this biological need for security. Thus, his or her mother was the most important carer in a child¡¯s life. Bowlby believed that the attachment to one¡¯s mother was qualitatively different from any other attachments. Th......
