There were many elaborate empires varying in political, intellectual, and economic qualities, but also sharing close ones. The Assyrian empire and Mesopotamia have various similar characteristics, but also many different ones as well. Assyria�s geography was much different than that of Mesopotamia�s. For example Assyria was very hilly, had temperate climate, and great rainfall. On the other hand Mesopotamia was hot and had arid climate, with not much rainfall which called for canal use. This shows how different they are, climate wise. This also shows that Assyrians climate corresponded better with the people and made things easier. Also, Mesopotamia was surrounded by mountains, deserts, which enclosed it form attack. While Assyria was exposed and frequently attacked by raiders form the east and north.
