The Kite Runner is a powerful, affecting story of savage events and strong emotions, written by Khaled Hosseini. “A boy who wouldn’t stand up for himself becomes a man who can’t stand up for anything”, is an important quote said by Baba to Rahim Khan in reference to Amir. Baba says this because he is worried that Amir never stands up for anything or against anyone, when he is playing in the streets with the neighbourhood boys. He is also worried because Hassan is very rebellion and stands up for Amir when required, when compared to Amir, who relies on Hassan, Baba and Rahim Khan.
Amir as a boy acts very selfishly. He takes some decisions that confirm his character. These decisions are either a negative decision or an egotistic decision. Amir is involved in just a few situations where he had to take his own decision. One is where he had to help Hassan when he was in trouble. Instead of helping poor Hassan, he decides to run away. “I had one last chance to make a decision.......
