Nutrition is what fuels a child�s body for growth. What the body needs changes as a child gets older. We will look at what promotes a healthy lifestyle in both infancy and toddler-hood stages. Infancy Nutrition is extremely important for infants because of the rapid physical growth they experience during this time. Children grow faster during the first three years, especially during the first few months, than they ever will again (Feldman, Olds, & Papalia, 2006 p.133). Breast-feeding is the best source for nutrition for infants. It is not the only source, but it is considered to be the best an infant can receive. Breast milk contains the proper amount of carbohydrates, fats, protein, vitamins, and minerals that a baby�s body needs. Breast milk is also more desirable because it is easily digested, and the child is less likely to have allergic reactions. An alternative to breast milk would be iron fortified formula. Many parents use this source of nutrition because a mother can have a lack of milk production or other medical conditions. As in my case I did not breastfeed ......
