Intelligence Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

Intelligence is a complex topic. There are a tremendous variety of definitions for intelligence (Le Fancois, 2000). Alfred Binet and Theodore Simon, David Wechsler, and Howard Gardner have all been quite successful in helping spread knowledge about the meaning of “intelligence” and applications of this knowledge to education. This essay will compare and contrast three perspectives of intelligence. It will begin by discussing the first perspective of Alfred Binet, Theodore Simon’s, and Lewis Terman’s Stanford-Binet test. Next, the discussion will focus on the second perspective of The Wechsler Scales’. Thereafter a third perspective of Howard Gardner’s Theory of Multiple Intelligence. During the discussion, this essay will critique all three perspectives of intelligence, noting the major differences between them. Throughout the essay, consideration will be given to the notion of intelligence, and the life experiences that impact on cognitive development and intelligence within the perspectives.
