Celie and Nettie - The Color Purple Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

In the movie “The Color Purple” set in Macon County Georgia there are two standout characters, Celie and her sister Nettie. Celie is the character the movie is centered around. She also is the film’s narrator. Celie encounter many different issues along the way such as being raped by her father over and over again, abused by her father and forced into marriage at fourteen to another abusive man who originally wanted to marry Nettie. Mister continued the abuse her father had been subjecting her to. Celie had become so used to not fighting back that she did nothing every time Mister hit her or raped her. She didn’t even cry out. Celie is a very religious person and never lost her faith even through all the damaging things she had endured. She is always talking to God about giving her strength and to make her invisible. When she first arrived at Mister’s house, she is attacked by his horrible kids with rocks. She is expected to clean, cook, raise his kids, and have sex with him whenever he chooses. One day her sister Nettie decides to run away from her father’s house and com......
