Introduction Within the scope of speech-language pathology, one important issue is the documentation and evaluation in treatment outcomes for children who stutter (Yaruss, Coleman, & Hammer, 2006). According to The Stuttering Foundation, stuttering is a communication fluency disorder in which the flow of speech is broken by repetitions, such as, “li-li-like this”, prolongations, “lllllike this”, or abnormal stoppages where an absence of sounds and syllables occur (www.stuttersfa.org). Communication characteristics that may be observed in children who are normally disfluent include occasional repetitions of syllables or words once or twice, “li-li-like this”, hesitations, and the use of fillers such as "uh", "er", and "um". Although only a small amount of information has been reported about the incidence of stuttering, the prevalent incidence rate of children that stutter is approximately 1% of the population (Mansson, 2000) with a lifetime incidence of 4-5% of all speakers (Webber, Packman, & Onslow, 2004).
