Law and Society What are the issues that contribute? Nowadays simple things in life are highly taken for granted- whatever happened to law and the social order it obtained? How well do we grasp the fundamental necessity of this aspect? The society we live in today has dramatically changed from that in the past. Tamanaha argues his perspective of law in his mirror thesis: “Law is a mirror of society, which functions to maintain a social order” (Tamanaha 1). Society is no longer looked upon this strength and authority; people are choosing different routes in order to obtain their own safety. This powerful force is letting us down, and has to regain a conscience. According to Benjamin Carbozo, “where there is no law there can be no order, since order is but another name for regularity, or conformity to rule” (Tamanaha 4).
