It is a catastrophe to know that the current Egyptian population is seventy-five million people, and it is worse to find out that it is expected to double by the year 2050. Knowing that the area that ninety-seven of the population live in is only four percent of Egypt land mass, the government decided to use the unused ninety-six percent, which is made of desert. Desert reclamation is one of the most important projects that the Egyptian government is taking in consideration for the recent ten years, so the government is eager to encourage people to move to the desert by pressing ahead with an estimated $US 70 billion plan to reclaim 3.4 million acres of desert over the next decade. Reclaiming the desert and turning it into a green land, the government will solve the population problem, decrease the rate of unemployment, and have sufficient food supply.
